Second Female was founded in Copenhagen in year 2000. The style is Scandinavian with a chic and modern French touch. This is reflected in the four yearly collections through feminine silhouettes, hand-drawn prints, chunky knits and elegant suits.

Our design philosophy and aim is to create a relevant wardrobe that embodies all the comfort and confidence a woman needs to express her personal look.

Underlining the Scandinavian values of effortless luxury and functionality, we create collections that are classic in a contemporary context, always focusing on this season´s “must have” items.

Second Female - Due Diligence Procedure

Due Diligence is the process of taking responsibility for risks and their impacts in a supply chain. Examples of such risks include forced labour, child labour, poor working conditions, use of chemicals and so on.

There are different approaches to practicing Due Diligence and different steps you can take to remediate the risks. We have chosen to follow the approach as suggested by the OECD. Below are the steps we have taken in our Due Diligence process - we make updates and go through each step annually.

1) Development of policies

We have developed a Code of Conduct and various policies including a chemical policy - these are updated on an ongoing basis.

2) Supplier engagement

Our Code of Conduct and policies have been shared with our suppliers, who have confirmed and signed them. The documents will be shared for signature with any new suppliers as well.

3) Supply chain mapping
We are working on mapping our supply chain in our Due Diligence tool. Currently, we have an overview of our direct suppliers (Tier 1) and are in the process of mapping their suppliers. Having this overview affords us the chance to set standards and help uphold them for the people that create our products.

4) Collection of audit reports and certifications
We collect social audit reports, such as BSCI, SEDEX, SA8000, and certificates for OEKO-TEX, GOTS, GRS, among others, as a step in upholding social and environmental standards in our supply chain.

5) Risk assessment
We read all the audit reports and certificates we receive, and we conduct risk assessments of each of our suppliers based on the following points:

- Audit report results and/or factory visit impressions

- The type of product produced in the factory

- Production country

- Supplier segmentation

6) Addressing non-compliance
If we detect non-compliance with our social and/or environmental standards, we will take action by addressing the issue with the supplier and work together with them to make improvements in order for them to comply. We have a very close relationship with our suppliers, and our goal is always to help and assist them in any way we can.

7) Annual re-evaluation
Our supplier Due Diligence tool will show the results of our supply chain mapping and overall Due Diligence process. These results will be re-evaluated annually.

8) Chemical testing
To further ensure our products are safe and compliant, we perform random chemical tests on each collection. These results are locked in our test tool.
